Design Principles In Action
Human Sustainability in Practice
When a modern domestic or industrial facility is designed and built, there is a list of standard considerations which are used to shape the design. Considerations such as power, water, human waste management etc are included in the list of considerations and as a consequence, the resulting design incorporates the provision of these services and any tradeoffs which need to be made to incorporate them. As we become increasingly aware of the impact of our way of life on the environment, and the impact of our way of working on the individual, a similar emphasis needs to be placed on the incorporation of human sustainability in the design of domestic and industrial environments.
This section of our website explores the practical integration of human sustainability principles in domestic and industrial environments. We also discuss the application of these principles in a couple of special cases, including civil incident management and humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
